All the information that you’ll need to know re: the Potomac Valley District Qualifying Tournaments ("DQTs") is on the 2011 DQT Homepage. The Potomac Valley DQTs start on April 30, 2011 and will be completed by May 22, 2011.

Grade Divisions

Competition Divisions for District Qualifying Tournaments, Super Regional Tournaments and National Championships.  Competition in girls’ basketball shall be determined by the following:

2nd GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 2nd grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 10 prior to September 1, 2011.

3rd GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 3rd grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 11 prior to September 1, 2011.

4th GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 12 prior to September 1, 2011.

5th GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 13 prior to September 1, 2011.

6th GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 14 prior to September 1, 2011.

7TH GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 15 prior to September 1, 2011.

8TH GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 16 prior to September 1, 2011.

9TH GRADE DIVISION
·A child must be in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2011.

10TH GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 18 prior to September 1, 2011.

11TH GRADE DIVISION
· A child must be in the 11th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 19 prior to September 1, 2011.

12TH GRADE DIVISION

· A child must be in the 12th grade as of October 1, 2010 and cannot turn 20 prior to September 1, 2011.       

*The National Chair(s) may approve other participants at their sole discretion.

**If an athlete wishes to play down one grade division, she must petition the National Chair and must meet all criteria established.

BEGINNING FALL 2010 – WOMEN’S TEAMS MUST COMPLY WITH ADJOINING STATE RULE – In April 2010, legislation was adopted that would require women’s teams participating in an NCAA-certified event to meet the same residency restrictions that have applied to the men’s teams since 2005.  The effective date of the legislation is September 1, 2010.  In that regard, fall 2010 events will be required to apply the legislation when allowing teams to participate in those events.  This means that all teams participating in NCAA-certified fall events must be made up of individuals that reside either within the same state as the team’s official address or within a geographically adjoining state AND with not more than three prospects from adjoining states participating on any one team.  Additional information about this requirement can be found with the following links:

Application to Potomac Valley AAU Teams
The adjoing state rule, as applied to metropolitan areas will allow Potomac Valley clubs wide access to players outside the Potomac Valley AAU District.  As noted in Metro Area Map for Washington, DC

As noted on the NCAA website, the following counties are NOT part of the Washington DC Metro area:

• Anne Arundel County, MD (Baltimore Metropolitan area)
• Howard County, MD (Baltimore Metropolitan area)
• St. Mary’s County, MD (Lexington Park Micropolitan area)
