Summary of 2009 Major Rules
and Policy Changes from 2008:
1. Registration Deadlines
- New deadlines for clubs, athletes and non-athletes to register with AAU to be eligible for a PV DQT.
2. Determination of Player Age Groups
- 2008 used a strict July 1 ADD
- 2009 uses a January 1 ADD, but includes unlimited number of grade exceptions for every age group.

3. Player Participation
- 2008: A single player was eligible to compete in only age group at Nationals or her districts’ DQTs
- 2009: A single player may participate in up to three separate age groups that they are eligible for by age and/or grade.
4. Tournament Play
- 2008: limited number of D1 teams advanced to medal round and medal round was double elimination in most age groups.
- 2009: all D1 teams advance to medal rounds and medal round is single elimination.
