National AAU Requirements for Bids to Division II Nationals
The 2008 AAU Girls’ Basketball Handbook, page 11 provides the following general rule regarding qualification for D-II Nationals:

     "Each District will again qualify two (2) teams for Division II for every team they qualify for Division I, with a maximum of eight.  At the discretion of the National Chair, the Host District would be allowed additional teams.  Teams that do not qualify for D-I or D-II may participate in D-III."


Calculation of Number of D-II Bids Based Upon Number of Teams "Eligible for D-I Nationals"
For purposes of determining the number of D-II Bids for a District, the AAU Girls' Basketball National Offices has provided guidance that it is the number of teams "Eligible for D-I Nationals" that is multiplied by two, with a maximum of eight.  Click here to see the difference between teams "Eligible for D-I Nationals" and teams "Qualified for D-I Nationals". 


Potomac Valley Policy for "Qualifying for Division II Nationals"
Potomac Valley AAU District Girls’ Basketball holds separate D-I and D-II tournaments.  The Potomac Valley AAU Girls’ Basketball Committee has enacted the following rules for Qualiftying for D-II Nationals from the PV DQTs:

.  Top 2 finishers in PV D-II DQT have Qualified for D-II Nationals

.  Teams competing in the D-I DQT that did not Qualify for D-I Natonals have Qualified for D-II Natonals, starting with highest placing non-D-I qualifier.  The process then continues to all the remaining non-D-I qualifiers until the remaining spots are filled for teams Qualifying for D-II Nationals.

.  If spots still remain, the remaining spots for teams that Qualify for D-II Nationals are assigned to D-II DQT teams, starting with the 3rd place finisher.  The process then continues to all the remaining PV D-II spots are filled by teams that will be Qualified for D-II Nationals.
