AAU Establishes New Age Determination Rules for 2009 Season
Updated: Sunday, November 16 at 11:00 PM
In a conference call held on Sunday, November 16, 2008, the AAU Girls’ Basketball Executive Committee and the voting delegates from the convention approved new rules for determining age groups for the 2009 AAU season.
In general, a player’s age is determined by her age on January 1, but with broad grade exceptions. The net effect is that the new rules, while not technically being a grade-based approach, will generally result in grade-based teams.
