Potomac Valley AAU District Girls Basketball (GBB) Committee Meeting – November 11, 2009
Meeting was called to order
The meeting was called to order by Andy Stadnik at 7:40 pm
No draft minutes to approve from previous meeting.
Will get them for the December meeting with these.
Registered Clubs
As of 11/11/2009 there are 18 (BW) Clubs registered 8 of these clubs have 5 or more members.
BA – has 1 club with 5 or more members.
There are a total of 9 clubs that have voting privileges. They are as follows:
*Cardinals - BW
*Classics - BW
Matrix Basketball – BW
Maryland Flames – BW
MD Lady Hoopsters – BW
VA Hurricanes – BW
VA Rapids – BW
*Beltway Lady Cougars – BW
*Maryland United Lady Ballers – BA
*Present at meeting
74 – non athletes registered
20 – w/out club codes – Andy will follow-up with them
Please look into data base to ensure your players and non athletes are listed and if not you will need to contact Jackie Markham at AAU National to have them associated with the correct club codes.
New Business
DQT Bidding Format – Changes
The club reps present reviewed the tournament checklist and bid form and identified the following changes/updates
- Notify head coach of status of entry packet within 72 hours
- No game time changes within 24 hours
- Minimum game guarantee will be 4 games for MOST age divisions
- Officials – Proposed NCAA Board/Certified Officials – May have a group in to train officials on AAU/NCAA rules for DQT
Introduction of Tom Camera – Certifying Official
Biggest concern is the expense of the officials; bottom line is we want to get our money worth by having a successful tournament with certified, insured officials.
Here are topics for discussion:
Certification Program for All AAU Refs
6-hour credit class – can be done in one session
Request observers at events to see if refs meet qualifications
Exam
Reviews
All officials should carry “certified card”
All officials should be AAU members
Cost of program
Training for coaches
Training for parents
Planned month for certification – late March/early April
