Classics Take 8U Championship and Flames Capture 9U Title

The first 2009 DQT champions have been crowned:
- 8-Under/3rd Grade. The Potomac Valley Classics defeated the WFBC Mustangs 24-14.
- 9-Under/4th Grade. The Maryland Flames topped the Matrix 40-28.
Congratulations to the champions and silver medalists. The bronze medalists in 8U and 9U were Team Sol and the Fairfax Stars, respectively.
Vogues and Fairfax Stars Repeat as Champions in D-I 10U and 11U; BRYC Captures 11U D-II Title

11U Pool Play Complete: Stars/Team Sol Win D-I and BRYC/MDBLC Win D-II

With only 6 teams in the 11-Under D-I and D-II DQTs, it only took one day to determine the pool play winners on Apirl 25:
- Division I: The Fairfax Stars took Pool A winning by a combined 98 points while Team Sol took Pool B after winning two close games.
- Division II: The BRYC Tarheels rolled up two large victories to take Pool A and the Maryland Beltway Lady Cougars finished a +26 to take Pool B.

DC Heat Wins 15U Championship in Close Game Over WFBC Mustangs

 Congratulations to the DC Heat, the 2009 Potomac Valley AAU 15-Under champions. In a very close game, the Heat defeated the WFBC Mustangs 65-61 to take the gold.
The Maryland Flames defeated the YBAM Sparks 59-53 to take the bronze medal.
With their win, the DC becomes the sixth different club to take home a gold medal in the 2009 DQTs.

11-Under Title Game a Rematch From 2008 as Team Sol Squares Off With Defending National Champion Fairfax Stars

Division I
The 2009 11-Under/6th Grade Division I championship game will be a rematch of the 2008 10-Under Division I game between the Fairfax Stars and Team Sol. In 2008, the Stars swept Team Sol 65-34 and 64-26 on their way to winning the 2008 10-Under AAU National Championship in Orlando.
The bronze medal game will be between the Cardinal and the Matrix.
Division II
The championship game for 11-Under Division II will feature the BRYC Tarheels and the Maryland Beltway Lady Cougars. The bronze medal game will feature a face-off between the Matrix and the Maryland Flames.
7 Championships and 21 Medals Awarded Sunday; 6 Different Clubs Win Gold Medals

DC Heat and WFBC Mustangs Win Pools in 15U Pool Play

Pool play for the 15-Under/10th Grade age group wrapped up on May 3, 2009 with an undefeated champion in each pool.
In Pool A, defending champion, DC Heat dominated their pool winning all three of their games by more than 30 points to finish 3-0. Vogues-Wilson finished second in the pool with a 2-1 record.
In Pool B, the WFBC Mustangs defeated the YBAM Sparks 64-63 on Saturday and that turned out to be for the pool championship as the Mustangs went 4-0 in pool play and the Sparks won their remaining game to finish 3-1 in second place.
15-Under Medal round play starts next weekend.
Twelve Teams Win Pools In Six DQT Age Groups on Sunday

Pool play wrapped up for 12U, 13U, 14U and 16U on Sunday, with twelve additional teams claiming first place in their respective pools.

Maryland United Lady Ballers and Potomac Pythons Win 12U D-II Pools

Pool play wrapped up on Saturday in the 12-Under/7th Grade Division II DQT.
The Potomac Pythons went 3-0 to take Pool A, while the host club, Maryland United Lady Ballers, went 2-0 to take Pool B. Matrix teams finished second in both pools, with Matrix-Paul taking second in Pool A and Matrix-Marrone taking second in Pool B.
These four teams advance to the Medal round. The semifinals, bronze medal game and championship game will be held next Saturday, May 16 at the Capital Sports Complex. See link in the table below for the medal round schedule.

Draws for District Tournaments Completed

The Potomac Valley AAU District Qualifying Tournaments ("DQTs") will be contested over a five weekend period beginning April 18-19 and ending May 15-17. Teams will be competing for bids to AAU Girls’ Basketball Division I and Division II National Championships.
The "draw" has been completed and 107 teams are competing in the 2009 DQTs for the 8U through 16U age groups. Click here to download the file (Revised April 15 for changes to 8U and 9U pools) with the following information:

- Computation of number of available bids for D-I and D-II Nationals by age group
