AAU National Policy VII – Procedures for Nominating and Election of District Sports Directors
This section establishes the rules that the PV AAU Girls’ Basketball Committee must follow for nominating and electing the Committee Director. Note: Need rules/reference for election Committee Board (e.g., Andy, Aggie, etc.)
· Section C(1)-Qualifications of District Sports Directors. Candidates must be members of the District Sport Committee.
· Section C(2)-Nominations of District Sports Directors. A notice of election must be sent at least 60 days before the date of the election. Nominations must be received by the District Secretary 30 days prior to the election. If no nominations are made, the District Governor will appoint the Chair.
· Section C(4)-Election of District Sports Directors. A quorum of five club representatives is required. The vote shall be made by written ballot; however, if there is only a single candidate, a voice vote is allowed. The winner must receive a majority of the votes; if no majority results in a ballot, the candidate with the fewest number of votes is dropped. The voting continues until a candidate receives a majority of the vote.
Note: this National Policy does not provide guidance as to the procedures to follow if the vote remains a tie between all remaining candidates in the election.
