Neighboring and Other AAU Districts

 

Information about some neighboring Districts of the Potomac Valley District are shown below. 

To get information about any Girls’ Basketball District in the United States, click on the AAU District map at the bottom of the page to go to the Districts site on the AAU National Girls’ Basketball website.

Bordering Districts
Only Maryland and Virginia are Districts bordering the Potomac Valley District. 

Therefore, only players meeting the residency requirements of these two Districts are eligible for the non-district roster exceptions that are allowed for Potomac Valley AAU teams participating in a DQT, SRT or at Nationals.  For other rules regarding residency, click on the blue tab at the top of the page labeled, AAU Rules of Play. 


Maryland District
State of Maryland (except the counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s.) (Territory re-aligned December 1968.)
The Maryland District was organized 1981; it was re-aligned December 1968. (Source re: dates: National AAU website)
.  Neighboring districts: Potomac Valley, Virginia, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania and Middle Atlantic

Virginia District
·  Commonwealth of Virginia (except the Counties of Arlington and Fairfax and cities of Alexandria and Falls Church.)
·  The Virginia District was organized on October 9, 1937; it was re-aligned December 1968.
·  Neighboring districts: Potomac Valley, West Virginia, Kentucky, Southeastern and North Carolina

Mid-Atlantic District

·  State New Jersey, south of Mercer and Monmouth County; all of the State of Delaware and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, east of and including Bedford, Centre, Clinton and Potter Counties (Territory re-aligned December 1962.)

·  The Middle Atlantic District was organized 1906; it was re-aligned December 1962.
·  Neighboring districts: Adirondack, New Jersey, New York Metropolitan, Niagara, Western Pennsylvania and Maryland
.  The Mid-Atlantic District is NOT a bordering District to the Potomac Valley District.
