The
2008 AAU Girls’ Basketball Handbook addresses the Tournament Draw for teams in AAU Nationals. The following rules are provided:
. Seeded by prior year’s Nationals. The 16 Districts will be seeded from teh priovious year’s National Championsips. A blind draw shll be made for all other entires. Example: The 13/U will be seeded by last year’s 12/U finish, etc. However, the 9/U, AAU Junior Olympic Games and all D-II Nationals are blind draws.
. Blind draws. Blind draws shall begin with the remaining Districts first place finishers, followed by second place, then third place and fourth place finishers. Teams qualifying fomr a SRT shall be placed in the bliind draw in the same manner.
. Timing of the draw. The draw will be held at the AAU National headquarters the week follwing teh deadline for entires to be received. The Commissioner-In-Charge, Tournament Director, Tournament Coordinator, and National Chair or his/her disignee shall administer the draw.
. Pool results impact on seeding in bracket play. Teams finishing first and second in the same pool will advance to the opposite side of the Championships bracket as will third and fourth place and fifth and sixth place finishers.
. Seeded team dropping out. If a seeded team is unable to attend, bt notifies the Cational Chair prior to the entery deadline, all other seeded teams below would move up one in the bracket. However, no 17th place teamn will be seeded.
. Unseeded team dropping out. If an unseeded team is unable to attend after making their official entry, a new PPPL will NOT be draw. Instad a BYE will appear in the pool play results.
. Teams from same District never in same pools. The Host TEam and the Host District Champion shall be drawn into opposite pools for Nationals. Other teams from teh same district will be drawn into opposite pools for Nationals.
