Fairfax Stars Finish 11th at 9-Under Nationals in Monroe, LA

With the first, second and fourth place Potomac Valley DQT finishers at home, the Fairfax Stars led a group of three Potomac Valley teams to 9-Under Nationals at Monroe, LA from June 26 to July 1 in which 25 teams competed.
Pool Play
The three Potomac Valley teams, the Stars, Potomac Valley Vogues and Virginia Hurricanes struggled in pool playing, going a combined 1-9, with the Stars getting the only win, with the three teams finishing 3rd, 4th and 5th in their respective pools.
At 9U Nationals, all teams advanced to the Championship Bracket.
Bracket Play
Stars finish Top 11. In the first round, the Hurricanes and the Stars met, with the winner guaranteed no worse that a Top 13 finish. The Potomac Valley bronze medalist Stars won the game 39-22.
The Stars lost their quarterfinal game to the Lady Hoopsters from Ohio, falling into a bracket to compete for 9th place. They bounced back to beat the Texas Express before falling to the MV Magic. Still, with the two wins in bracket play, the Stars left Monroe with a Top 11 finish.
Hurricanes and Vogues. After their first round loss to the Stars, the Hurricanes bounced back with two wins over the Albany Heat and the New Orleans White before falling 42-15 in the Consolation Bracket final to the Lady Celtics from Kentucky. The Vogues went 0-2 in bracket play.
